About Us

Hok Lai Timber (M) Sdn. Bhd.

HOK LAI TIMBER (M) SDN. BHD. was first established in 1992 and was founded by the late Mr. Per Eng Lee.
Over the years, the company experienced a rapid growth from a small sawmill to one of the largest sawn timber and plywood suppliers and exporters in Malaysia.

From the year 2014, our Managing Director – Mr. Per Chin Poh started to transform the business from sawn timber manufacturer to plywood manufacturer.
Moreover, we have young management team with average age of 33 but with at least 12 years of wood-based experiences. With the young synergy from the team, we constantly seeking new innovative ways to lead the company to a higher level within the wood industry.

As Hok Lai Timber has grown to become one of the major plywood, veneer, sawn timber and wood pellet suppliers, the management has adopted new technology to increase production volume as well as bring profit and recognition in the timber industry.

Hok Lai Timber is also well known as timber grower which providing research and development field for Malaysia Universities Agriculture students. Hok Lai Timber is also a certified supplier of PEFC organization (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).

Company History

1992

HOK LAI TIMBER (M) SDN. BHD. was first established as a sawmill company by the late Mr. Per Eng Lee and we are one of the biggest company that supplied Sawn Timber to local exporters.

1997

Various industries were greatly affected by financial turmoil, our founder Mr. Per Eng Lee decided to find more opportunities outside of Asia and he made the first export to Middle East with his wisdom and courage.

In order to ensure our price is competitive enough, we had applied for a logging lincense to get the raw material by ourselves and with that we have started the log trading business and started sapling cultivation and tree planting.

Amid the Covid-19 crisis, Hok Lai Timber constantly seeking new opportunities and innovative ways to lead the company to the higher level within the industries. Hok Lai Timber has become one of the biggest plywood exporters to the international market.

Sapling Cultivation Project

We are one of the very few timber manufacturer in Malaysia that having a full supply chain by ourselves from sapling cultivation to our wood by-products and recycling of wood by-products into wood pellets. With this not only we can ensure continual wood flow to meet the market and production demand but also lower and stable cost to our customers.

We care about the natural forests and we invested heavily in our sapling cultivation project to relieve the pressure on natural forests due to the rising timber industry demand.
